Connection Jam
Theatre & Dance’s Professor Ana María Álvarez and BSP present Connection Jam, a 2 hour weekly free movement laboratory, as a part of BSP’s Black Visual and Performing Arts Series (BVPA). Connection Jam is an opportunity to play, think, engage, and explore with embodiment at the core - build resilience, joy, and connection. Practice embodied liberation. All are welcome, no experience needed.
Graduate Seminar with Tirrezz Hudson
This research explores representations of queer Black boyhood in popular media and culture. Through transdisciplinary methods and methodologies, Tirrezz Hudson argues that dominant notions of U.S. Black Boyhood are sociocultural and politically constructed over and against Black queerness and childhood.
BFCA Residency 2026
Born from a series of Black Feminist Playwriting workshops by Dr. Mysia Anderson-White (Theatre & Dance - UC San Diego), this spring's inaugural Black Feminist Creative Arts Residency features Dr. Andie Berry (Theatre Arts - Brandeis University) in conversation with Dr. Caroline Collins (Urban Studies and Planning - UC San Diego) and Dr. Matana Roberts (Music - UC San Diego).
