The BSP is a collaborative of faculty & graduate students from across the UC San Diego campus, spanning the Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, and STEM fields. We serve as a venue for groundbreaking research, scholar development, and community engagement in Black Studies that might not otherwise exist on UC San Diego’s campus. Unlike many universities, UC San Diego does not have an African American Studies or Black Studies department, leaving Black Studies scholars isolated in units across campus. We pride ourselves on nurturing and retaining Black Studies scholars across campus in a challenging national context that seeks to suspend and discredit their work.
