RESEARCH PRESENTATION
Listening to Quiet Melodies: A Black Trans Reimagining of & Reckoning with U.S. Sociocultural Constructions of Black Boyhood(s) with Tirrezz Hudson
This research explores representations of queer Black boyhood in popular media and culture. Through transdisciplinary methods and methodologies, I argue that dominant notions of U.S. Black Boyhood are sociocultural and politically constructed over and against Black queerness and childhood. Positioning Black queer boyhood experiences as musical melodies that make up the songs of Black queer life and living, this research aims to gently and attentively listen to the quiet melodies and memories made by those who have experienced the social and cultural conditions of Black boyhood.
