Connection Jam - Winter 2025
Theatre & Dance’s Professor Ana Maria Alvarez and BSP present Connection Jam, a 2 hour weekly free movement laboratory, as a part of BSP’s Black Visual and Performing Arts Series (BVPA). Connection Jam is an opportunity to play, think, engage, and explore with embodiment at the core - build resilience, joy, and connection. Practice embodied liberation. All are welcome, no experience needed. The only requirement: a desire to move your body in community! This year’s BVPA Connection Jam features sessions led by new dance faculty member Bernard Brown (artistic director of Bernard Brown/bbmoves, a social justice dance theater company), Kara Mack (choreographer in films such as COMING TO AMERICA 2), Daunté Fyall (founder of the West African performance company DAANSEKOU), and Youssouf Koumbassa (educator and former principle dancer with Ballets Djoliba, one of Guinea's most important national dance companies).
